Aesthetic Period Sterling Silver Pin

Offered for sale is an Aesthetic Period sterling silver pin in excellent condition.

The design features a curved base with a horseshoe shape for luck, a diving bird, flowers and an ivy leaf. It is hallmarked on the back for sterling, Birmingham, the date code for 1907. There is a maker’s mark of W and L, each in a shield, but I am unable to identify the maker.

During the Victorian era styles moved away from heavy jewelry to lighter, less fussy designs, many based on Japanese decoration. This continued into the Edwardian era. This pin measures 1-3/4″ wide x 11/16″ tall.
