Antique Hollow Cut Silhouette C 1830 S. Dartmouth MA

A detailed hollow cut silhouette on black fabric of two gentlemen in full profile.  Circa 1830’s and from a South Dartmouth, MA collection.  Unknown maker but it is signed with the initials HB in the lower R corner.

Two, well dressed gentlemen wearing top hats and holding parasols, are standing on a dock with a ship and the sea in the background.  There is foxing on the paper background as seen in the photos, but this charming silhouette presents well.  It is housed in its original frame but the hanging wire was replaced by electrical wire at some point.

This large silhouette measures 12 ¼” x 16 ¼” including frame and the site size is 9 3/8” x 13 3/8”.
