A painted and decorated, turned wooden container made by Joseph Lehn – 1789-1892, Clay Township, Lancaster PA.  This piece of PA folk art was made of turned poplar wood and decorated in the PA manner.  It was either a small sugar bowl or used for spices.

It is just under 4” in Height, the interior Diameter is just under 3”.  The Diameter of the cover is 3 ½” and the base Diameter is 3 ½”.  The names George and Barbara are written in pencil on the interior of the cover and the name Barbara is written in green ink on the base.

The finish is original with only a few areas where the paint decoration is scratched.  There are 3 tight, hairline cracks in the bowl of the container.
