Superb mauve on white plate (or blue on white available), featuring a close and detailed image of “Marconi Wireless Station, Wellfleet, Mass.” Plate features a large, detailed image of the four tall antenna masts and the transmitter building, surrounded by a 1 ½” flowered border in mauve on white. This is a plate produced in commemoration of the event of the first wireless message being sent by President Theodore Roosevelt to King Edward VII on January 19, 1903. Backmarked “Imported Expressly for Everett I. Nye, Wellfleet, Mass…. W. Adams & Co. Estd. 1657 England. French, Mitchell, Woodbury Co., Boston. “ This large collectible measures 10 ¼” in diameter. This is a wonderful, early commemorative piece and is one of the more rare Wellfleet pieces. A bright, crisp piece. Only light crazing as is common for this type china. (#8381d)  (VG+).
