Hand-colored lithograph of an Hibiscus or Hibiscus Terroldu, drawn and engraved by Samuel Holden for Sir Joseph Paxton’s Magazine of Botany and Register of Flowering Plants, published in London, 1837.  Excellent condition. Image measures 5 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches.  Paxton was one of the most significant 19th century English botanists and his vibrantly colored lithographs are rarer than other 19th century botanicals.
