Sterling Silver David & Lionel Spiers Rat Tail Sugar Tongs

Offered for sale is a beautiful sterling silver David & Lionel Spiers Rat Tail Sugar Tongs with engraved decoration and a monogram on the bow.

The engraved design features flowers and leaves on a stipple background. The monogram is “EWS” in a scrolling script.

It measures 4-3/8″ long, the bowls are oval, 15/16″ x 5/8″ and weighs 21 grams. It is marked with British hallmarks “D&LS” in a rectangle for the maker; a lowercase gothic “p” in a circle for date of 1889; a lion for sterling; an anchor for Birmingham and a duty mark used prior to 1890.
